Day 4: Monday, January 30th

12-1pm: Super Baskets of Hope
At this event nearly 1,000 volunteers assembled baskets at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The 7,000 baskets that were put together are then going to be distributed by NFL players, coaches, and regional volunteers to children in hospitals in each of America’s 32 NFL cities. Keynote speakers for the press conference were: Gary Brackett and Tony Dungy.

At this event we met Evan Meade, a young man who just last January was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He shared with us how Brackett came to his room to deliver a Basket of Hope. This simple gesture inspired Evan to preserver through his life threatening disease. Today he is playing football with his high school team, a task doctors didn't think possible in such a short time.

Brackett followed and spoke to the volunteers, thanking them for being involved in a program so close to his own heart. He, in the spur of the moment, decided to give his Super Bowl tickets to Evan. A definite tear-jerker, but spoke true of Bracketts humble nature.
